On October 9-11, ICE welcomed Deborah Stratman and Vanessa Renwick to Iowa City

as jurors of its 2008 festival.

As per festival custom, the number and type of awards were left entirely to the discretion of the judges.

Here, in no particular order, are the films they honored:

 

The Badass Spirit of Blackhawk Award:

The Badass Sublimity Serenity Award

Jonathan Schwartz – Nothing Is Over Nothing

 

The Badass Fried Banana Award:

Joe Lachajczyk – I Love St. Louis

From a pool of over 200 entries, we selected 50 for screening over three days of events in and around downtown Iowa City.

ICE wishes to thank all who submitted work to the 2008 festival! The scope of the entries was remarkable.

We thoroughly enjoyed pre-screening this year's entries and appreciate your support for ICE's mission: to bring current work by experimental filmmakers of every level of experience to a hungry regional audience.

We also want to thank the area businesses, organizations and who contributed to the festival, as well as those filmmakers who made the trek to Iowa City to take part in the festivities.
